Forward Step is a program where community members and incarcerated individuals learn together. In its current iteration, Forward Step is a 6-week Restorative Justice course (meeting one half-day per week) that explores the values of restorative justice, consequences of harm, and pathways to healing. There is an emphasis on Indigenous perspectives and the class uses a circle sharing process so that all the participants and volunteers can learn from each other. This program is currently offered at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre in collaboration with Mennonite Central Committee SK and Micah. Courses are conducted 3 to 4 times a year. Community members can volunteer to join as co-facilitators or learning participants.
