Person-to-Person
Person-2-Person (P2P) is a visitation program offered to inmates at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary and patients at the Regional Psychiatric Centre (RPC). P2P originated as a program owned and operated by Mennonite Church Saskatchewan in the 1970’s at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, and was introduced to RPC in 1981.
Micah, in partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator at RPC, facilitate the P2P program in Saskatoon. P2P is facilitated at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary by Parkland Restorative Justice. Patients not receiving visits from family or friends are eligible to be matched with a community volunteer for the purpose of establishing a healthy relationship with someone from outside the correctional institution. Community volunteers offer hope, companionship, and a safe, non-judgmental, space for patients to learn and grow.
